ABOUT THE COMPETITIONS
Wild New Zealand Films, NZ’s leading producer of Hunting and Wild Game DVD’s
is the prime mover in establishing a hunting competition run in conjunction with
‘The Wild Game and Seafood Chef of the Year’ that has no equal anywhere
in the world.
‘The Hunter of the Year’ will receive a first prize of
$50,000 by
far the highest prize money ever offered in NZ. To encourage conservation of Big Game Fish the rules will permit catch and
release for Marlin and Shark. The

the ‘Hunter of the Year’.
For those of us who have experienced the succulent flavour of freshly harvested
Scallops or the tenderness and superb taste of Wild Fallow Deer venison
accompanied with home-grown vegetables then you will understand the potential of
‘Living Off The Land’.
'Chef of the Year' is an opportunity for chefs to be judged by a panel
consisting of their peers and the public. A competition designed to focus
international attention on New Zealand’s unique Wildlife and Seafood harvested sustainably from one of the purest environments on Earth.
Entrants who reach the finals will be provided with a basket of Wild Game and
Seafood harvested from the seas and mountains of Wild New Zealand along with
fresh organically grown vegetables from the garden of Wild New Zealand Film
producer Dawson Bliss.

BACKGROUND INFO
Hunting and Fishing competitions have long been popular in New Zealand, a
country renowned for its populations of free ranging Wild Game. New Zealand is
unique in the world in that Wild Game have been introduced by the early settlers
for trophy hunting have met with no predators or severe weather that accounts
for natural culling. As a result we are one of the few countries in the world
where hunting is not only allowed on public land but also actively encouraged.
Wild New Zealand Films actively promotes the sport of hunting and fishing and
is now creating a competition that will promote the wonderful resources we have
with a competition that will attract interest from around the world as the
premium hunting event on the world calendar. It is our aim to showcase NZ on the
world map as a producer of Wild Game and Seafood that is the best in the world.
New Zealand is unique in the world of Wildlife and Big Game, our climate is
favourable for our Wild Animals to breed and survive better that the countries
from which they were introduced. That success has been to the detriment of our
vegetation that is put at risk and as a result these animals must be controlled.
That is where the Trophy Hunters find their niche and are a valuable part of
keeping the ecological balance that gives New Zealand some of the most
spectacular mountain scenery in the world.
The coastline in NZ extends for 15,134 kilometres and the fish stocks off the
coast are managed with one of the most successful systems to maintain fish
stocks anywhere in the world. To compliment that NZ has mountains from one end
of the country to the other. A large part of these mountains are vested in public
ownership where the hunting of Wild Game is encouraged.
